A man's perspective around the house

Posted on: February 15, 2008 11:12 am

I gotta admit, I have power tools up the wazoo. I love chainsaws, weed whackers, and my Echo hedge trimmer. I like fixing things and destroying things both. I love gas appliances to death. Just got a gas stove, ....... "now I'm cooking with gas".... I cook on my Weber Grill 12 months out of the year. I don't give a happy crap if it is 10 below and snowing, I want my steak on a grill. Anyone who takes a piece of meat and broils it in the oven, you need to be  executed. I also love my air compressor, when 18V Dewalt or a wratchet won't do, go with air baby. I rotate my own tires, it's my version of the NASCAR pit crew. Yeah snow blowing sucks, but I do love to shoot the stuff 30 feet into the air, I feel like I am exacting revenge for it having the nerve to land on my driveway. And I cannot wait until the warm weather, I want to detail my car like nobody's business..... My water feed line for the outdoor faucet runs directly through and insulated area, so until we see 40 degrees, I have to have the line off. It is killing me not to be able to wash, wax, and shine the living bejesus out of my tires.

And who does not love Bacon. I can have it any time, any day. Bacon and Eggs, BLT's,. Bacon Cheeseburgers. And if you have not tried this combo on your pizza, you are missing out........... sliced tomato and bacon, holy mother of gawd is that to die for. I make a dip too, cream cheese, bacon bits, diced tomato, and shredded lettuce on Townhouse Crackers. When I go to Chuck's Steak House, they have a salad bar with a entire bowl of bacon bits! I usually take about half the bowl dump it on my salad and my potato, until the only color you see is reddish-brown.

Finally, as a man, some things I just don't get. WHO CARES if the toilet paper unrolls front or back, it all goes to sh1t anyhow........ And I do all of our shopping, but gave back the laundry to the Mrs.  She was smart at first, washing my red t-shirts with the socks, I ended up with, no wait she ended up with a whole lotta pink socks. I do not wear pink, the color just reaks of potential orientation issues I would rather not leave up to discussion. So now I got smart and folded the clothes like an animal, so now I don't have to do laundry anymore.

According to HuskerTex, bacon is the perfect food.  And I can't say I disagree.  It's good by itself and it's good with just about anything else.  Perfect.

I can relate to the power tools etc.. side of it.  Its like the louder the better.  If mine growls a little more then the others in the neighborhood, the more I want to be out there puffing out my chest.  Much to the displeasure of  most neighborhood wives  as  they make it a point  of giving you the look next time paths of crossed.  If they only knew the power they just handed to you.  Do they really believe the look will get any desired response?  If so they must not have had brothers and their poor husbands tool supply is sparse.  Smart wives allow ther men to participate in their manly self-imposed worlds as needed and reap the benefits of a balance manly man.
We feel sorry for our brothers whom have allowed it to be taken away.  We feel empathy as we view their invisible shackles.  But in the same note, we revel in our ability to hold on to ours.  The look?  Come on ladies!!  If they don't understand what this discussion is all about then they will never know or receive the fruits of our glory!!

A man's perspective around the house

I live in Cali and about a month ago we had a freakin hurricane blow through here, we'll, the Mrs. wanted to have steak for dinner and had the audacity to say she was gonna broil them in the oven! After a few minuts of explaining to her the rules of cookong a steak, I ended up outside in 70 mph winds and terrential downpour Q'uin up one of the best steaks I'd ever done! They thought I was nuts but I had one of the best times ever watching my wife and kids faces in the window while I'm outside in the worst storm in 15 years grillin up the perfect steak. It wasn't easy gettin the coals started but it was worth every second! By the way, have you ever tried bacon wrapped steak? Good lord, a meal straight from the heavens!!!

When your in the doghouse because you went for a dirt bike riding day instead of going shopping with the better half.  You will more then likely be having breakfast by yourself Sunday Morning.  Try a couple of peanut butter and bacon on toast and make sure you eat them while warm and peanut butter is gooey.  She will think your a sicko but will be hoping she avoids us next weekend also!
Anyone have any other unique breakfast bacon ideas?

Great blog, I got a good laugh out of it!!!!  I agree with you about the grilling 12 months out of the year.  There is absolutely no reason to eat a steak unless it's grilled!  Thank God my hubby faces the cold weather and snow to become "The Grill-master" once a week or so...  And bacon is definately under-rated by most people.....it goes perfect with everything!  Bacon is like the new black!!!!

By the way, good move by the wife with the vandalism of the laundry....I may give that a try.....

About Why I bleed Black and Gold
I follow a lot of sports, including golf, but the one sport I live and die for is football. If my Red Sox lose or UConn doesn't do well, my week is not ruined. If the Steelers lose on Sunday, I have a crappy next 6 days.
